What If This Is Heaven?: How Our Cultural Myths Prevent Us from Experiencing Heaven on EarthBy Anita Moorjani

Following her near-death experience as shared in the New York Times bestseller Dying to Be Me, Anita Moorjani knows well the truths that exist beyond common knowledge and acceptance. The clarity she has gained has led her to further understand who she was born to be.

Part of that truth has involved contemplating the cultural myths infused into our everyday lives. Passed down from generation to generation, these myths are pervasive and influential. From the belief we reap what we sow to the idea we must always be positive, cultural myths are often accepted as truths without questioning. Moorjani asserts it is now time for questioning in order to help us reach our fully informed, authentic selves.

Moorjani explores these common myths in their real-world existence while presenting examples from her own life that reveal the falsehoods beneath the surface. By freeing ourselves from these ubiquitous expectations, we can break open an honest pathway to life as it was meant to be lived.

Review
"So many people have such a fear of death that they are afraid to live life to its fullest measure. Anita Moorjani does a brilliant job of demystifying both life and death by first breaking the spell of our conditioned beliefs and then giving us the practical tools to be reborn in the same life. This book will free your soul and teach you that you don't have to die to go to heaven."
~ Dr. Joe Dispenza, New York Times best-selling author of "You Are The Placebo"

"The richest literature on near-death experiences moves beyond mere descriptions of the afterlife. The greatest lessons concern how to live this life to the fullest. In her newest book, What If This Is Heaven?, Anita Moorjani addresses deeply held misconceptions in our modern global culture. Her evolving wisdom empowers readers toward much greater health and harmony: to truly love oneself in the face of life's challenges is integral to every human's fulfillment here on earth."
~Eben Alexander, MD., neurosurgeon and author of Proof of Heaven

"This is a beautiful book, one to savor and one to contemplate as you learn to see beyond the cultural misconceptions of what being a spiritual being in human form is all about. Anita Moorjani has an authenticity that shines through every page. Do yourself a favor, grab a hot tea and snuggle up for a journey into what really matters. Highly recommend."
~ Colette Baron-Reid, Bestselling author of Uncharted

"A deeply thoughtful exploration of life's most debilitating myths, offering fabulously credible and empowering illumination. I loved this touching book and the emotions it evoked within me, written powerfully, yet still very down-to-earth. Waste not a minute more, read it for yourself now."
~Mike Dooley, NY Times bestselling author of Infinite Possibilities

From the Author
Several of you have written to me saying "How can this possibly be heaven? If this is heaven, why does it feel like hell??" And I want to say that I'm actually not surprised by that reaction, and even when I came up with the title, I expected some of you to say that to me!! So let me explain. Many years ago, my life was hell too. I was bullied very badly as a child, and was taunted and discriminated against for the color of my skin and my family origin--something I had no control over. That really made my life miserable. And it certainly felt like hell when I was going through cancer, being in constant pain and fear for all those years.

Life truly was a struggle for me, and I lived in immense fear for a huge part of my life. I had always believed that life happens to us. In other words, I believed that I was a victim of my circumstances, so I was always reacting to life instead of creating life. Of course I didn't believe I created my life circumstances. Who would create a childhood of bullying and discrimination, all of which shaped my thinking? Who would choose to be born as a woman into a culture that still believes women are inferior to men? Who would create cancer in their own life? Of course I was a victim of my circumstances. Or so I thought...until I "died".

It's been 10 years since I faced death and came out the other side. Now when I look back at these past 10 years, I can see that my life is so drastically different from what it was prior, that I sometimes wonder whether I actually came back from death, or whether I'm still in the other realm. All the fear I used to have, all the pain, all the insecurity - they are all gone! So much so that I wonder whether I'm still dead and this is heaven! Every day, I get to do stuff I love to do! Of course this feels like heaven!

But then I read the letters I have received over the last few years from so many of you, where you share your pain, and your fears. And also, I take a look around at the world around us. And it all brings me back down to earth. And I wonder, "Why can't we all create this state of heaven for ourselves? What is preventing us from doing it? Why did it take death for me to realize how to live my life? Isn't it a wasted life if people only learn the truth of how to live when they die?"

Those are the questions that inspired me to write this book. I don't want you to have to wait until you die to learn how to live. Remember, we are all connected, and I feel what you feel. This book comes from my heart to yours.

Much Love,

Anita

Review

"The way firms go-to-market is rapidly evolving. As a result, the role of the sales function continues to become more strategic, with the salesperson driving value for both selling and buying organizations. Today’s college students  (future sales professionals) must understand the new sales paradigm and Johnston and Marshall’s Contemporary Selling will help them do just that. The authors introduce relevant examples and provide a current perspective that are sure to benefit faculty and students alike." - Andrea Dixon, PhD., Baylor University, USA

"Mark Johnston and Greg Marshall have produced a masterpiece of a textbook for selling! Contemporary Selling is comprehensive, practical and accessible. This book encompasses the theory and practice of professional selling... presented as a logical and progressive learning journey for the student. Packed with knowledge, examples and exercises, it is a "must have" for any sales educator or trainer." - Beth Rogers, Portsmouth Business School, UK

"This book is a one stop shop for students for selling topics. Authors take the students through details of selling skills, and describe the ways to develop relationship selling. The descriptions and illustrations about the selling process provide a clear focus on relationship building and consultative selling methods. Chapters are filled with real life examples and vignettes that compel even the most distracted multi-tasking students to pay attention to practitioners' viewpoints."  - Jay Mulki, PhD., Northeastern University, USA

"Johnston and Marshall's Contemporary Selling is a valuable asset for mastering the skills of selling in recent times. Discussions compiled through fourteen logical chapters are easy-to-follow but exhaustive in content. Some of the book’s key strengths are its discussion of the relationship between technological change and selling, its new perspectives on territory and time management, and its treatment of globalized environment issues as they impact selling. All in all, this book offers great insights for any course on selling." - Kavita Sharma, University of Delhi, India

'Johnston and Marshall successfully deliver a very readable text with everything you need to know about selling and the sales process. Its approach is very contemporary. Particularly insightful for postgraduate students with many valuable supporting learning material. This text will be recommended to all my students on 'selling and sales strategies' modules.' - Tony Douglas, Edinburgh Napier University Business School, Edinburgh

'This textbook facilitates an outstanding introduction to business-to-business selling. New sales students often approach selling with some skepticism and bring with them the stereotype of the salesperson as a mere product peddler willing to manipulate naive prospects. Contemporary Selling will open students' eyes to the concept of the mutually beneficial exchange - in the competitive marketplace, sellers can only satisfy customers by building relationships that center around the customer's needs and customers will only commit to sellers willing to do so. I have used previous editions of this book and have found it invaluable - the new edition's inclusion of sales technology is particularly exciting. With this textbook, Dr. Johnston and Dr. Marshall are providing an outstanding resource at a particularly critical time when students need to understand the true nature of selling and the vital role that salespeople play in fostering a functioning marketplace and a thriving economy.' - Ronald L. Jelinek, PhD., Providence College, USA

"If you are hunting for a book to teach young college students the art and science of modern selling, look no further than Contemporary Selling by Mark Johnston and Greg Marshall. The book must rank among the top few on the subject. What sets it apart are its honing the concept of value creation as the underpinning of today’s selling, the expert advice from practitioners, and inclusion of ethics and global perspectives... just a few powerful ideas that make the book what it shouts aloud – contemporary." - Bala Shankar, Adjunct Faculty, Singapore Management University; Consultant, Entrepreneur
